#tbt to January 9, 2018 – Fire Guy and I met for dinner at Jack in the Box. We arrived separately, he in his Fire Chief’s SUV and me in my car. We had only been seeing each other for a month and half and decided to meet for a quick bite to eat.
As I was enjoying my spicy chicken sandwich and monster tacos (don’t judge), his pager started rattling and just like that….our dinner date was cut short.
His meal was half-eaten, I was still eating my sandwich, and off he went.
The reality is, some of our meals get interrupted by his job. Unlike a paid firefighter who works scheduled shifts at the fire station, Fire Guy is on call 24/7 and is expected to respond to emergency calls at a moment’s notice. This makes it hard to plan dinner dates and family time.
….the upside to interrupted dinner….he leaves his meal behind….and *sometimes* I get to eat both my meal and his 🙂
